Hair: Really???
Most likely the first thing every new citizen in Second life(tm) looks for. From day 0 it defines who we are in this world and the quality and style can determine whether you’ll be spoken to or ignored.
Hair can make certain shapes stand out either gloriously or despicably. Some of the best incorporate the use of sculpties, flexi prims, and alpha textures, but then there are those horrible hair styles from 2007 and earlier and continue to this day, trying to prove their ability to lag up the dance floors and Moody shoe stores.

We must note, when we tp'ed in, we got send about 5 or 6 notecards and LM, for this store, we know how to get there, we dont need more thanks
Abi: Now I must admit I totally bought into the big poofy hair fad, this was in 2008 sometime. I was a huge fan of Damselfly, I would walk around in a daze looking at the hair I couldn’t afford. Now I look back at those old hair and think Really???
Abi again: I can understand the want for wavy and curly flexi hair, But someone really needs to send the memo that this fad is over. Damselfly is the first offender, Big hair that moves poorly that usually ends up in half my body when i wear it.
Abi yet again: Gurl 6 is another major offender with their huge ass stripper hair. The one that surprised me most was bishwear… Bishwear is like the holy grail of bad hair, like really bad hair, hair that makes you think whyyyyyyy would someone buy it, yet when we were there snooping around, there was actually people in the store…BUYING stuff, not pointing and laughing like us, I could understand if it was cheap… But these people are charging normal price. Magika or truth has tons of cute hair of all styles.
Lita: Lets not forget though, Magika has been around just as long as those three stores. The difference is, Magika actually updates their collection and recently, at the end of 2009/beginning of 2010 retired a boat load of their designs; they were given out at 10L a pop as it introduced several newer styles and keeping the ones that don’t look like cones hanging off your skull.
Going back to Gurl 6, honestly, I didn’t think they were going to still be open. It needs new designers, new ideas, and just trash their old stock as a horrible dream no one sobered up from. Seriously though, I wanted to go up to many of the patrons of these stores, hand them an LM to another store, and wish them luck.
Abi: But frankly don’t know if some people realize it is bad hair, Some people like the big badly textured hair..and thats why they are still there, people decided they wanted to look like someone set up camp on there head. It does get annoying when people have the “im all that” attitude while they are completely outdated.
Lita: Oh yea, that’s always fun, like they have to make up for something because they bought horrible hair. Although there are some new stores now that think just because they have access to sculpties, they are worth something far grander than Damselfly. Mustache would be one of these stores, their hair is like wearing a wig made out of paper mache’ and rocks.
Its a shame about Mustache, they have some cute styles and pretty decent textures, but it looks like they are made of like 5 prims, no movement.
So it is that hair evolves with us as Second Life(tm) passes through the ages. Some stores remain huge, relying on their success in the yesteryears while others will attempt to catch onto the band wagon, aiming to keep up with the industry. Some can only hope that the wild tacomen will come and pummel these stores to the ground with their burrito goodness and stop the madness.

miauw!
nice catty post there, I agree big time!
Wow, this post made me giggle, but I also enjoyed it!
I hope to see more posts from you two.
Yikes. I’m embarrassed for you.
Why don’t you go and make a set of hair for us, then bring it back for us to bitch about? Think for one second about the creators of these hairs.. then get a conscience.
I’d like to see you create anything but drama, all I see is two wannabe posers who have to much time, hate and jealousy to be useful to society.
Wow this is actually really funny. I love the humor in this blog! I will be reading more from you two. There isn’t anything in this blog that i wouldn’t have joked about with a good friend of mine. Besides, it kinda makes me want to check out the places they mention to see if they are right. Keep up the good work:D
/me agrees with Bob Tunbry and Sanura Snowpaw. Not just because my hair was trashed in the blog, but this really is not helping anyone, but the bloggers themselves. It gives them something to do, and makes them feel better about themselves by trashing other people. If people want to buy something. Let them buy it. There are demos. People can judge for themselves if they like it or not.
Every designer starts out somewhere. You can see Armidi’s progress right in their store. They have some of their older items still up, and you can see definite improvement. You cant just come into secondlife and be a pro, making things left and right that look flawless. And i fully admit that im not in anyway perfect, but I am decent. People appreciate my stuff, and i appreciate them. Im not here for the money, and im not here to start drama. Im here for a good experience with friends, and to maybe try out a career in game design. This is only my start.
On another note. I would like to see both of you two make a hair. If you think its easy enough, then you should produce some good looking hair.
Okay..This Is So Not Funny.. I Can See If You Was Going After Little Creators But Your Really Dipping Your Feet In The Wrong Water Bitch.. First Off Who Are You To Give Any Fashion Advice To Anyone Your Avatar Sucks. That’s Why The Hair Looks Bad On You…And Another Thing You Probally Can’t Even Make Hair And Your Commenting On One. Who Gives You The Right? You Have No Fashion Skills And I Will Never Ever Take Your Advice… You Can’t Even Get Clearer Pictures For Your Damn Site Lol.This Piece Of Shit Ass Blog WTF. STEP YOUR BLOG UP IMMEDIATELY..Be A Critic On That.
My mustache brings all the girls to the yard, and they’re like, its better than yours. I can teach you, but I’ll have to CHARGE!
Just a tip for you. Designers actually talk to each other and most support each other. Bad start ladies. The snarky catty bishes are gonna laugh at what you wrote and say what’s the harm. Those are the ones that LOVE to see drama and bully people regularly anyway so we dont care what they think. You having their support is I hope enough for you. Those of us with actual feelings, the designers and creators are going to ban you from their sims and yes this includes the ones you praise as well as slam. How would your “Sissy” Shaneas feel if someone trashed her tattoo shop like this in front of hundreds of other designers and shoppers? Would she cry herself to sleep after she saw it, would she close up and leave SL? Or would it always be in the back of her mind every time she made something new wondering whether she would measure up? Oh and btw LOL at a “proud Mommy” in SL calling what someone else does, tacky. Great moment for you two. Good luck.
Seriously, I agree with Mae. No one’s perfect. And everyone has to start somewhere. Just because something isn’t the way YOU want it to be, doesn’t mean that no one else likes it. After all, look how successful Mustache is. I know a lot of people who love that store and could care less if the hair prim slips into their virtual tit. To tell you the truth, a lot of hair does that anyway. You obviously need some respect considering how much effort these creators put into their products. Kthxbai.
You talk about the blogging community as if it were anything than a collection of personal ideas, thoughts, and criticism. It just so happens, our criticisms don’t look for freebies or getting in good with designers. We had fun, we had a good time, and most of all we were truthful.
It’s not about, “HAHA! We could do it better than any of you. We’ll show you!” That entire argument of, “Lets see you do better!” is something people say when they honestly cant handle a critique, borderline ad hominem. I did point out that Magica has updated their styles and applauded its efforts for doing so.
The difference between our blog and the one you all who look down at us wanted to read is, ours is going to have Mae Liamano rethink and take a new look at her designs. She’ll hate us, she’ll loath our guts, but I bet in six months or less, so long as we got to her more than some ass-kissing whelp has, her designs will come out better. I’m sorry you cant handle flaws being pointed out and brought to your attention, but I think that’s a matter for a psychologist to deal with; just remember who to thank if Mustache improves.
Um…Please I Will Not Thank You If She Improves I Will Thank Her For Making You Look Like Fools Like She Said She’s Going To Get Better And Everyone Has A Starting Point On SL And You Two Act As If She’s Been Doing This For Years. I’m Not Saying You Can’t Be A Critic But Just Know Some People Work Hard And For You To Sit There On Your High Horse And Act Like People Won’t Get Better Or Can’t Get Better Is Not Right. These Designers Work Hard And By You Telling Them They Can’t Do It It’s Like Telling There Buyers They Can’t Wear It.It’s Not About Handling A Critic It’s About Thinking Like One..Try And Remember That For The Next Person You Are Going To Bash.
I love it when people tell me I can do something better. But the way it was said, sounded like a beat-down. It didnt sound in anyway sincere or like you wanted me to do better. “Their hair is like wearing a wig made out of paper mache’ and rocks”, sounds like you legitimatly dont like my items and dont care if i improve. Also, you showed mine and Mandi’s first hairs. Not any of the more recent ones.
You should probably put a little more faq into your future blog posts, rather than trash statements.
No one asked for your judgements and “criticism”. I put it in quotations because in all honesty, what you said, isn’t really criticism. It’s more of trash talking remarks. You’re not telling the owner of the store what you think she could improve, oh no. You’re putting it all up on your blog to make it seem like you’re wise and these stores are a load of crap. Don’t embarrass people, say it to their face. As an individual, I don’t think it was appropriate and mature of you to bash Mustache and the thought out products that are being sold from it. ‘S all I’m saying.
Yea, they could post a list of things that is wrong with each store, but instead they took an artistic approach to writing it out. They still have what the store needs to do to fix themselves if you actually read the entire post and not just what they wanted to read. I’ll itemize it for you though since you seem a little too hot headed to analyze things.
Damselfly: Update your techniques or lower your prices
Gurl 6: Retire your old stuff, make new things
Bishwear: Same as Damselfly and Gurl 6
Mustache: Great textures, though everything is too stiff.
Is that seriously what you prefer reading? Can no one write in a style they prefer? You must live in one close minded part of town. And no one ever asked for anyone’s opinion on anything in any blog ever. That’s why they’re called blogs and not, “Thoughts of People More Important Than You” a.k.a. TPMITU. besides, no one asked you to leave a comment, right?
So you can dish it out but you cant take it huh? How many other comments did you not let through like mine? We all see the kind of people you are, don’t worry. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Drama and attention seekers like you take care of yourselves in the end. If this is the kind of reputation you want in SL, you’re doing great. No one’s reaction has anything to do with your opinions, it has to do with the childish and snarky jabs you took for no reason. They’re not constructive no matter how you twist them. They’re simply mean and if you cared you could have easily sent these creators a notecard with suggestions rather than blast them publicly. You DON’T care and everyone sees that except you and your friends cause you think its hilarious to do and you’re getting a little moment of attention that means no more than more people dislike you. Think about it. You probably wont publish this comment either but its ok. I just wanted you to read it just to double check to see if you have any feelings or intelligence at all.
No one asked me to leave a comment but, this is a blog correct?
Therefore if there is a COMMENTS section, people are bound to post in it.
They didn’t have to post this to the world, they could’ve just simply said it to Mae herself instead of making her feel like shit.
Darling, I do not live in one close minded part of town. I major in English so don’t assume things yourself
Then you should of understood sarcasm in my post, and you didn’t, you should of understood satire in the blog, you didn’t, and you should of been able to understand the blog, and you didn’t. So, when you say you’re a major in English, are you still working on your A.A.? No offense, but I could be majoring in rocket science and still not know anything about it. By the way, don’t answer that, it’s called a rhetorical question.
First off, “Mae Liamano” i read your profile and you sound like you think you are better then the rest. lol
Also, your 19 years old, did you start building on teen life?
Its a free world where people can state their honest opinions about your products and not have to be nice about it. tons of people get success off being funny about products that come out. your just to blind to see that people will actually go to your store to see if these girls are true and most likely, “BUY SOMETHING!” omgosh, could you believe that this could actually end up being a good sales pitch for you??
AS a creator, I agree that it is hard to build things but there isn’t just a builders side.. there is also the customers side too! I never read once that these girls think they can do better then anyone. You have to remember that it is the customer that keeps creators in business. So just laugh it off when you get comments like this, take what you can from it and better your company! The worst thing you can do is let things like this publicly get to you and you release yourself into the situation. These “opinions” wont destroy your company, your all mighty thinking sure will. All i see is two funny people taking the side of the customer. Which is different because most blogs take the side of a shop owner to gain money or products.
btw, if you define the word “blogging”, there isnt anything in the definition that says “you must be nice!”
Get over yourself. Your shop needs involvements so get off your high horse and make them.
*kudos to these girls on taking a stand as a paying customer!
Yes I am 19, and I started out on the Teengrid. My profile has progressed from being open and talkative to being direct and firm, because I have to be. I don’t mean anyone to take it that I am better than anyone else, because I am probably the most imperfect person I know. I just feel that some people are ignorant to the small guidelines i have set, so ive made rules to them. I hope that none takes them in an offensive way.
Ive been designing for 5 years, most of them being on the Teen side where ive dealt with the worst of the copybotting, and the worst of attitudes.
I spoke with both of the blog writers, and let them understand how i am not upset that they are critiquing my store,(because im glad someone is noticing it that way, and actually pointing it out) But that i was upset of a comment made to do the critiquing, “hair made of rocks and paper mache’”.
Telling me that i can put more movement into my hair, putting more detail and things of that sort were things i would have expected from a critique blog.
But like I said, I’ve talked to both bloggers, and we all have an understanding, and i think that Lita and i can even be friends. :3
